Takaokaya Nori
Established in Tokyo Japan, Takaokaya has been producing Nori since 1890, a staple of Japanese cuisine.
Harvested in the ocean without any additives, Nori is produced in a rack drying process similar to paper making.
Most commonly used to wrap sushi and onigiri rice balls or cut in thin strips and used as garnish.
Nori Characteristics
The best nori normally has a shiny dark color with the following characteristics:
- Good color (dark black or dark purple)
- Good aroma (ocean scent)
- Good texture (crispy)
- Moderate thickness (not too thin or thick)
- Dark green color when baked
- Melts smoothly in your mouth
